The screening of Lo and Behold: Reveries of the Connected World will take us on a journey through the wonders, contradictions and potential of the connected world, guided by Werner Herzog's unique perspective. From the origins of the Internet to the possible futures of artificial intelligence, the film explores in depth how the web is transforming society, communication and even our identity.
Following the screening, a discussion moderated by Massimo Temporelli with Emiliano Audisio (Head of Events and Consulting, WIRED Italia) and Maurizio Melis (science and technology communicator, Radio24) will allow us to reflect on the cultural, economic and technological challenges of contemporary hyper-connectivity, between opportunities for innovation and new risks for individuals and communities.
The evening will conclude with an open debate, during which the audience will be invited to actively participate with questions and comments.
Massimo Temporelli has a degree in physics and worked for 10 years as a curator at the National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan. Today, he is an entrepreneur in digital fabrication, a consultant and keynote speaker on innovation, with a particular focus on the relationship between humans and technology, including all the anthropological and sociological repercussions that this relationship entails and will entail.
He is president and co-founder of TheFabLab, a digital fabrication laboratory based in Milan. He was a TEDx speaker in 2012 (Florence) and 2020 (Turin). He has made popular science television programmes for Sky and Rai. He is the author and voice of the famous podcast F***ing Genius (Storielibere.fm). He writes for Wired and Millionaire magazines and his latest book is Noi siamo tecnologia (We Are Technology) (Mondadori, Strade blu, 2021). In 2016, he won the “Federico Faggin Innovation Award”. He has been an ambassador for AIRC since 2017.
Emiliano Audisio is editorial director and curator of events and consulting activities for Wired Italia, a Condé Nast publication that explores how innovation and new technologies influence culture, society, economics and politics. Since 2013, with the first edition of Wired Next Fest, he has been responsible for developing the brand's events and consulting activities, both in the consumer and business sectors. He is co-founder and president of Frame, a cultural enterprise that provides services and initiatives in the field of science communication. Previously, he worked for 15 years in the music industry, both as an author and artist, and as an entrepreneur.
Maurizio Melis, science journalist, has been hosting the daily programme ‘Smart City, Voices and Places of Innovation’ on Radio 24 – Il sole 24 Ore since 2012.
For Radio24, he has also been the author and host of numerous other radio programmes, including ‘Mr Kilowatt’, ‘Archimede, in viaggio tra passato e futuro’ (Archimedes, travelling between the past and the future), ‘Odissea 2011’ (Odyssey 2011), ‘Canale 24’ (Channel 24) and ‘Sound of science’, as well as podcasts such as “Materie” (Materials), ‘Generazione Climate Change’ (Climate Change Generation) and ‘Rumors d'ambiente’ (Environmental Rumours).
He has collaborated with television programmes such as GEO (Rai 3) and the Cristina Parodi Show (La7), and with newspapers including Il Sole 24 Ore, Equilibri, Newton and Quale Energia.
Author of three essays published for Il Sole 24 Ore, he is actively involved in conferences and training aimed at the general public as well as public administrations, students of all levels, businesses and other economic actors, dealing with topics such as energy, smart cities, the circular economy, digital transition and ecological transition, and more generally applied research and innovation processes, as well as science communication.
He has won several journalism awards, including the “Italia in Classe A” award from the Ministry of
Economic Development and the “Montale fuori di casa” award. A musician in his spare time (but not entirely), he loves to combine popularisation and music.
An engineer by training, he is a member of the Scientific Committee of MUSE (Trento Science Museum).
