Professor Giulio Pompilio is the Scientific Director of the Monzino Cardiology Center (IRCCS), where he leads a research team of over 120 people and is responsible for the strategic coordination and clinical and experimental research activities of the Institute. He is also a Full Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Milan. He is internationally recognized as a pioneer in Italy in gene therapy for peripheral artery diseases and in regenerative therapy using cardiac stem cells, work that led him to co-found a cardiac cell therapy startup. He currently holds prestigious national and international positions in the life sciences field: National Representative of private IRCCS institutions at the CTS Research Section of the Ministry of Health; Scientific Coordinator of the PNC Mission 6 project “Italian PerfeTTO Network”; National Delegate in the European Commission’s IHI JU partnership; member of the CTS of the Regional Foundation for Biomedical Research (FRRB) of the Lombardy Region.
He is the author of 300 scientific papers indexed on PubMed, with an H-index of 44 (Scopus Database).
