Screening of the film Terminator (1984) directed by James Cameron. A film with Michael Biehn, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton

Guests of the evening: Federico Cabitza (Academic), Emanuele Micheli (President of the School of Robotics)

The screening of 'Terminator' will take us back to the roots of the modern science-fiction imaginary, in which artificial intelligence, robotics, technological control and the future of humanity are intertwined in a story that has become iconic. James Cameron's film, with its powerful and still current vision, raises questions about the potential and risks of increasingly intelligent autonomous systems, anticipating issues that are now central to the scientific and cultural debate.

Next, the discussion with Federico Cabitza (academic and member of the STEP scientific committee) and Emanuele Micheli (President of the School of Robotics) will offer an opportunity to deepen how robotics and AI are evolving in contemporary reality, between opportunities for innovation, ethical responsibilities and challenges in the relationship between human beings and machines.

The evening will conclude with a debate open to the public, invited to participate with questions and reflections to broaden the discussion.

Massimo Temporelli
Physicist and science communicator

Massimo Temporelli holds a degree in physics and worked for 10 years as a curator at the National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan. Today, he is a digital fabrication entrepreneur, consultant, and keynote speaker on innovation, with a particular focus on the relationship between humans and technology and all the anthropological and sociological implications that this relationship entails and will continue to entail.

He is president and co-founder of TheFabLab, a digital fabrication lab based in Milan. He was a TEDx speaker in 2012 (Florence) and 2020 (Turin). He has hosted popular science television programs for Sky and Rai. He is the author and host of the famous podcast F***ing Genius (Storielibere.fm). He writes for Wired and Millionaire magazines, and his latest book is *We Are Technology* (Mondadori, Strade blu, 2021). In 2016, he won the “Federico Faggin Innovation Award,” and since 2017, he has been an ambassador for AIRC.

Federico Cabitza
A computer engineer specializing in human-computer interaction

Federico Cabitza: A computer engineer specializing in human-computer interaction, he is an Associate Professor of Human-Computer Interaction and Human & Artificial Intelligence Interaction at the University of Milan-Bicocca, where he also teaches Information Systems and Interaction Design and heads the Laboratory for the Modeling of Uncertainty, Decision-Making, and Interactions. As a member of the staff at the Medical Artificial Intelligence Center of the IRCCS Galeazzi Orthopedic Institute, he collaborates with numerous hospitals and IRCCS institutions. His work focuses on the design of decision support systems and the assessment of the impact of these systems in organizational and clinical contexts. He is the author of more than 140 scientific works, including journal articles, international conference proceedings, and book series. Together with Luciano Floridi, he co-authored the book *Artificial Intelligence*, published by Bompiani, Milan (2021).

Emanuele Micheli
President of the "Scuola di Robotica"

Emanuele Micheli is one of the most prominent figures in the Italian educational robotics scene. A mechanical engineer and passionate educator, he combines technology, creativity, and training to make robotics accessible to everyone—from curious children to the most experienced teachers.

For over twenty years, he has collaborated with the Scuola di Robotica, of which he is now president, leading national and international projects that put robotics at the service of education, ethics, and inclusion.

He has trained hundreds of teachers, designed workshops for major Italian science festivals, and contributed to the dissemination of the European project “Roberta – Girls Discover Robots,” promoted by the Fraunhofer Institute.
